Harvey Ball invented the Smiley Face in 1963 to boost the moral of life insurance employees. The rest is history. By the time this tee was printed, the hippie movement attached themselves with the graphic, which is where this likely came from. Printed on a Made in US 100% cotton JCP tee. Overall good vintage condition.
